Home 100 Years Of Service |
For more than
100 years Richmond Town has been our home. Our Firehouse is located at the
corner of Richmond Road and St Patrick's Place. In our fleet we have 1 engine, a
2005 American LaFrance. Richmond Engine Company #1 has been
serving the community and abroad since 1903. Our company formed because a young
child was killed in a fire in Richmond Town.
Our district that we cover is a radius of about 5-6 miles, most of which consists of- Private Dwellings, Taxpayers, and several Multiple Dwellings, we also help protect the Staten Island Mall, many Schools, many Businesses and also help protect the Blue&Green Belt. When a call comes through the members in the area are notified by a pager system, and also we have air horns attached to our roof. (Click On Home Page To Hear Horns) Our company responds to Both Ems & Fire Runs, Our members have gone to 180 hrs of the fire academy and are Certified by the state. Also the members have Certified First Responder or New York State EMT Certificates.
We like to help out the community any which way we can, we host many parties and we also participate in many community events. For example one of the many things we participate in the summer is the Richmond County Fair, another event that we host in the winter that one of our members started in 2002, is a toy collection for terminally ill, and less fortunate children. The community and abroad donate toys to the firehouse for children that are sick or live in foster homes. At the firehouse our members and the community wrap up the gifts and later the members take the truck out and deliver the gifts. (the picture on the bottom shows radio station 103.5 KTU helping us out. With their help we received many more toys and much more help and support.)
