Richmond Engine Company 1 is an all-volunteer, member-owned fire company, located in the Richmondtown area of Staten Island. With over 118 years of history, our ongoing mission is to provide excellent fire protection and emergency services to the neighborhoods and communities we protect by preventing and minimizing the loss of life or damage to property. We are fully recognized by the City of New York and FDNY as a complete and operational volunteer fire company. Our highly trained members ensure staffing to keep around the clock operations while working alongside other first responders dispatched by the NYC 9-1-1 system.

The City of New York provides an annual stipend of $1200 for operating costs, which hasn’t changed since our 1905 inception. We maintain operations by funding from both private and political donations, grants, collections, fundraising events, and community contributions from the neighborhoods we serve. We are looking for your generous support to help provide life-saving equipment, upkeep on regulatory standards, and continued training. All of our members are Certified Firefighters trained as either AED/First Responders or EMTs. Drills and training are conducted continuously to keep our members skilled, qualified, and effective for when the tones come down. When called, Richmond Engine provides the community with outstanding fire protection and emergency services during blackouts, power outages, weather and technical issues during storms, major natural disasters like Superstorm Sandy, and currently the COVID-19 pandemic.
